respective prominent public figures.

National Mission "Boxing For Malaysia!" that includes developing FTH sports

development program. She is also a Founder of Malaysia Professional
Boxing Association (MPBA).

from UiTM Malacca and has more than 12 years professional working

Foundation (WMF).
Firstly, I wish to congratulate the organizing committee comprising of final semester
students in the Master of Corporate Communication Programme for having successfully
organize the Special Topics in Corporate Communication Seminar this semester (First
Semester, 2014/2015).
The main objectives of the Special Topics in Corporate Communication seminar are: i) to
provide the platform for key figures in the corporate and media agencies to share their
views and experiences on corporate and media related issues to the audience of the
seminar and ii) to enable the organizing committee comprising of final semester students
to gain first hand experience in events management.
The theme of this semester seminar is Corporate Communication in Athlete
Endorsement: Challenges and Opportunities. The theme and the topic of this evening
seminar is indeed a very important and strategic topic which discusses the role and
discipline of corporate communication in athlete endorsement. Athlete endorsement may
not be a common topic of discussion within the communication discipline, including
corporate communication. It is therefore important for all of us to understand what is
meant by athlete endorsement and how does corporate communication facilitates the
endorsement of athletes within the local community and globally. The strategic
application of corporate communication can provide accurate and strategic information
about the achievements of our national athletes and this would not only enhance the
morale of the athletes concerned, but more importantly it can promote recognition of the
countrys achievement in sports internationally. Malaysia has gained world recognition in
terms of its achievement in sports, especially in badminton, squash, hockey and others.
Achievements such as these should be sustained and should be publicized
internationally. This requires precision in terms of communication and accuracy of
information is indeed important to ensure the achievement of the national athletes are
publicized nationally and internationally.
Finally, I am sure the participants of this semesters seminar will gain valuable
information and insights on the theme and topic of the seminar. I am sure new
information has been obtained which may trigger a more in-depth inquiry and new sets
of questions for future research in the topics being discussed.
I wish to sinerely thank the speaker of this semesters seminar for being so willing to
share her views and experiences on the topic of the seminar, I also wish to thank the
management of the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, the academic
staff of the Department of Communication, UPM, the organizing committee and the
participants of this semesters seminar as well as all those who have all worked very
hard to make this seminar a reality.
Thank you.
