They are enveloped viruses with a positive- sense
single-stranded RNA genome .
The name corona virus is derived from the Latin
corona, meaning "crown" or "halo", which refers to
characteristic appearance reminiscent of a crown
when viewed under electron microscopy, due to
the surface covering in club-shaped protein spikes.
This new coronavirus is called severe acute
respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-COV-2 or
COVID-19).
On January 7, 2020, Chinese authorities
