MOTIVATION 2
Abstract
This essay will discuss different elements of motivation and how these elements affect academic
and professional goals. The topics will include: a mission statement, short-term goals, long-term
goals, fears and gratitude. These elements are important to academic and professional success.
MOTIVATION 3
Motivation Essay
What is motivation and why motivation helps to succeed in career and personal life? If
you have motivation, you have the desire to act from one direction to another or vice versa.
Motivation is the force that guides and maintains goal-oriented behaviors like going back to
school and finding jobs.
Since when I was a kid, I want to be a teacher. I love kids and I want to share my
knowledge to them in their early childhood stage. I love to help and comfort people. We are six
in the family and I am the youngest among all. My eldest brother is a master electrician. My 3
sisters are nurses and my other brother is a nautical. I started in educational degree (BEED,
Bachelor of Elementary Education). In our country elder siblings will finish their education
degrees first, then get a job to help the younger siblings to go to school but in my case, they all
get married after they graduated, have a family of their own and forgot me. I start working at the
age of 16 away from my family. I am envy with my other siblings and others who are well
educated. I didn’t stop thinking about my goal to finish my degree but things so complicated. I
am a mother and a wife now, it affects all my plans but I still have the hope that maybe someday
I will graduate and be proud of myself and my family and friends.
Short-term goals
Seeing my family especially my husband happy for me being back to school motivates
me. They help me take care of my little ones and do home chores while I am in school. They
give me space or time to do my assignments or study. They are my inspiration to succeed in
college. My short-term goal over the next 20-36 months is completing my school and maintains
my normal life. I will do self-discipline, motivation, positive thinking, and maturity intelligence.
MOTIVATION 4
Wake up early to do home chores, take care of the kids and make healthy meals for my family
before leaving the house for school. In school, I will attend the classes every day, be punctual, do
homework, participate inside the classroom, listen to my instructor, taking notes and get good
grades to graduate, and have fun. And after I graduated, since my kids are still young, and my
husband is going back to his sea duty in the military, I will find a part time job that will help me
use my new skills and knowledge with good benefits and experiences.
Long-term goals
My long-term goals in 5 years from now are seeing myself working in the hospital as a
good and responsible Medical assistant somewhere in Chula Vista. I will save money to pay for
my student loan. I am going back to school for Nursing degree to learn more about medical field.
After I graduated for my second degree, I would like to go back to Japan to work and experience
their medical field of learning. I want my family to see that I am capable of many things, not
only at home. I will use self-assessment and motivation as my will power to guide me between
my family, work and school. Stay up and positive, to achieve my long-term goal.
Fears
The biggest fear I have is failing my grades and I cannot maintain my responsibilities at
home. To overcome this fear, I calm down myself and focus on one problem and use critical
thinking and reflection how to solve the problem before making a conclusion. Like for example;
why did I get failing grades? I go to school every day but I don’t study and read because, I don’t
have time to do it or I am lazy to do it. This is what we call a time management problem. So the
best thing I do is to manage my time between my home responsibilities and school
responsibilities by making schedule like, when and what to do daily. Stay calm and relax. Do

home chores earlier and do assignment and reading every after school at night when kids are
sleep. I need to be more motivated and responsible.
Gratitude
In a year or so, I am imagining myself walking to the stage with a big smile, and proud of
myself. But everything won’t happen if there are no people involved. My first gratitude is to
God. He is one of my inspiration and guidance in my whole life, for better or worse. I always
pray to Him and thank Him for the life he give to me and I cannot ask for more. Secondly, I am
thankful to my husband. He is the one who helped me to be motivated and peace of mind
financially and spiritually when I am weak and stress. He gives me strength by taking care of the
family when I am at school. He gives me a chance to shine and feel the happiness that I want
since before and holding me when I fail of my actions and words. He is my hero. Lastly, I would
like to thanks to my instructors, who build up my knowledge to get through to where I am.
Thanking for their kindness and support. My life won’t be easy without them so I will dedicate
my crucial in life to God, my husband and family and all the people at school (teachers, staffs,
classmates, and financial and educational services), because of you all, I can see the other side of
my life in the future and the new me now and forever.
Conclusion
Motivation guides you to use your self-assessment, emotional intelligence, and critical
thinking to increase your will power. These are the best strategies to achieve your goal. Stay
focus on our self-esteem and beliefs. Visualize and affirmation of what we want and what we can
do to achieve our goal. Be a dreamer, thinker and resourceful with positive attitudes. More
MOTIVATION 6
knowledge, skills, and education put you in the right path to go through success, better job and
opportunities. Forget boredom and stress. Less worries of what you can’t do, but worry of what
you CAN do.
