Her areas of expertise include wood and bamboo protection through chemical treatments, testing of new preservatives, and assessing wood durability in various climates. She has published over 130 papers, received several awards and patents, and supervised 9 PhD students. Currently, she provides consultancy to wood-based industries and is involved with various professional affiliations.

Technology to improve service life of non durable plantation and imported
timber species against biological and physical degradation by using
innovative environ-safe wood preservatives ZiBOC. Value addition of
imported timbers for different end uses in India in different agro climatic
zones. Efficacy evaluation of non biocidal/ thermal treatment in indigenous
wood species to improve service life. Innovative and sustainable strategies to
enhance the service life of wood and bio-based materials. Development of
value added products of bamboo for livelihood support for low income
groups. Fire retardant and preservative combination development and
testing.
