SKILLS & ABILITIES I believe that I am a dedicated, hardworking and passionate individual and am
looking to further my career by helping and supporting children and young people.
I have strong communication skills which I have been able to adapt to many
situations professionally and socially. I enjoy working in a team and feel strong
relationships with multi-disciplinary teams are key, I have recently experienced the
benefits of working independently and gained experience in leadership and
management .
EXPERIENCE STANLAW ABBEY CHILDRENS CENTRE, ELLESMERE PORT (JANUARY
2010- MARCH 2010)
During my placement within my first year in university I learnt the importance of
effective communication with children, families and staff members. I enjoyed
aiding the childrens development and learning the skills in order to do so. I was
able to work with children from the age of one up to the age of five in all areas of
their development. I learnt that being a reflective practitioner is essential to both
the children and myself.
HOMESTEAD PRESCHOOL AND NURSERY, FRODSHAM (NOVEMBER 2011
DECEMBER 2011)
In my second year placement I spent 120 hours in a private nursery. I gained
many skills including a great understanding of child development and the
importance of monitoring milestones. I have
also learnt the importance of how child development impacts all aspects of
development. I have realised the importance of working in a multidisciplinary team
and believe have strengthened my interpersonal skills. I have also realised the
importance of planning and organisational skills as I was planning activities daily
in order to help develop childrens social intellectual and physical needs.
OVERTON PRESCHOOL AND PLAYGROUP, FRODSHAM (FEBRUARY 2012-
MARCH 2012)
In my final year of university I spent 80 hours in a charity run preschool and
playgroup. I worked with children from six month to four years and was able to put
to practice the skills I have learnt throughout my time at university and work one
on one with the children as well in group activities. I worked with children in order
to aid their skills in areas of development they were struggling with. I learnt the
importance of setting targets for the children in order to make sure they are
reaching milestones.

During my time working as room leader I was able to put into practice the skills
and knowledge I had gained in university. My communication skills were
strengthened as I had to effectively communicate with children, parents staff
members and at times professionals from other organisation. My planning and
organisational skills were also strengthened as it became clear the children learnt
through structure and routine. My knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage
was key and I completed various course including Paediatric First Aid ,
Safeguarding and a number of childcare courses. Within this time I also worked
with a child who had Autism.
NURSERY DEPUTY FRODSHAMHAPPY BUNNIES DAY NURSERY
SEPTEMBER 2013 SEPTEMBER 2014
With this role became greater responsibility. Supporting the nursery manager in
decision making was key to ensure the smooth running of the nursery. My
knowledge expanded as I gained understanding about team leadership and
management. Delegation and dealing with conflict became part of my skill set
during my role as deputy manager, alongside with strengthening my
communication skills in particular with professionals.
NURSERY MANAGER FRODSHAM HAPPY BUNNIES DAY NURSERY
SEPTEMBER 2014 CURRENT
My role as manager has meant I am now overseeing the running of the nursery
including planning rotas, managing teams, leading meetings, organising events,
holding personal appraisals, monitoring high provision care including providing a
stimulating safe environment for all children.
Taking part in various courses has meant that I have gained an excessive amount
of knowledge and information in regards to working with children and young
people as well as studying team leadership and management. I have had the
opportunity to hold Action for Inclusion meetings and support children with special
education needs.
Working in partnership with parents is a large part of my job role as I feel their
input to providing the best possible environment for their children is essential.
