Professional Highlights
Executive Leadership and Fundraising
• Speaking as the transformational voice of successful clients, I interview scores of people
and communicate their inspiring stories by composing and disseminating compelling
appeals and grant proposals. At Berkeley Food & Housing Project, this resulted in a 36%
increase in revenue over budget in my first fiscal year, an amount I sustained annually.
• As a mission-driven manager, I hire, coach and motivate dozens of employees and
volunteers into teams that successfully execute administrative and educational tasks. My
forte is training and transitioning college interns and recent graduates into professionals
prepared to teach volunteers how to serve the community. My success led to the
University of California Cal Corps naming me Supervisor of the Year.
2. • I maximize fundraising by promoting planned giving and stock policies by consulting with
brokers and attorneys, by resourcing major gifts from individuals, foundations and
corporations through research and outreach, and by recruiting volunteers for special
events that result in increased donations.
• I can replicate the process where I initiated and completed a four-year $2M capital
campaign by recruiting and motivating competent church members onto church council
and finance committee. With input and financial support from parishioners, guidance
from diocesan development staff, and pro bono professional services from community
construction firms, we paid off the parish debt and updated the campus.
• I increase nonprofits’ presence on TV, radio, print and social media by initiating
conversations with media providers about issues directly affecting our community.
• As an innovative program director, I can re-create a program like Incarceration to
Independence, a wrap-around social service for incarcerated mothers, where I
interviewed 50 incarcerated women and directly assisted 15 released prisoners navigate
community services to reunite with their children.
• As an empathetic community collaborator, I can develop programs similar to my senior
ministries where I survey seniors’ needs and invite community leaders to educate
seniors on fraud, Affordable Health Care Act, and end-of-life decisions.
• I can motivate your staff in the way I provide spiritual care and education for thousands
of individuals and families within a community regardless of religion.
