The Dabbawalla system is a tiffin delivery service started in 1890 in Mumbai that delivers over 200,000 home-cooked meals per day using a network of over 5,000 dabbawallas. They achieve an extremely low error rate of 1 in 16 million transactions despite having no technological systems and covering 75 km across the city. Each dabbawalla is part-owner of the cooperative and earns Rs. 5,000-6,000 per month for collecting meals from homes, delivering them to offices within 3 hours, and returning the empty boxes - all without any communication systems between workers. The efficient system has earned it recognition in the Guinness Book of World Records.
