The Golden Temple in Amritsar, India is the most significant place of worship for Sikhs. It houses the eternal Guru Granth Sahib Ji and is considered holy. The golden plates covering the exterior were added under Maharaja Ranjit Singh and make it culturally significant. It is moved daily between the main temple and a hall at 10 PM and back in the morning.
