- #3: It all started with Jeremy Reeder from Maricopa, AZ and his presentation at MLA on how his libraries were going Dewey-less. Right from the start, I loved the idea. Timing is everything we were going to replace a rug which turned into a renovation; we embarked on a strategic plan; and I had the buy-in from staff, Trustees and patrons.
- #4: I really wanted to find out the biggest complaints from patrons in finding items they were looking for they told me they didnt understand the number system and how come everything wasnt together in a subject. Weddings is a perfect example there are so many Dewey categories and patrons cant find what it all together
- #6: I use Ingram and this is what they have for categories. I would choose to put SPORTS, BASEBAL, Red Sox

- #8: Since everyone wants fiction, mysteries an biographies, we make people walk through non-fiction to get there.
- #9: We learned a lot in this process: staff learned to weed and how to improve collection development decisions; volunteers learned what we do, and were part of that process from moving books, typing labels, moving collections, and shelving; it took much longer than we wanted, but had patron reassuring us that they love it; we arent finished yet!
- #10: Statistics only show part of the picture.
- #11: We have learned a lot about how patrons browse, and what gets their attention. We are never thinking that we are done moving books and locations of materials. Patrons and staff are part of the process when we want to make a change.
- #12: We have already put the YA non-fiction in with the adult books. We designate them with a YA label for easy identification.
