C apoeira: A Brief Summary

Capoeira is a fighting and dance style that can be
played as a game with two opponents and a roda, or
    ring, of people.

The style is traced to African slavery in Brazil.

Seen as a threat, practicing the dance was outlawed
    until the early 20th century.

The practice of the style as a martial art, dance, and
    game has gained international recognition.
