Danes thought recently
about having a big, wild
adventure.
The type of insanity
she was contemplating?
Moving to
Brooklyn.
Not
moving the
needle for
you on the
daredevil
barometer?
She gets it.
So maybe a
little context is in order.
Danes, known for her
role as Carrie Mathison on
the Homeland TV series,
is talking about a more
personal experience.
Danes and her husband,
actor Hugh Dancy, had
just welcomed the addition
of a son, Cyrus, into their
lives. They were living in
Danes loft in SoHo, the
Lower Manhattan neigh-
borhood where she was
born and raised. They
wanted a place of their
own, and Danes hatched a
little fantasy about leaving
Manhattan for Brooklyn or
maybe Harlem.
Then the weight of a life-
time of memories kicked
in, and she and Dancy
ended up buying a town
house in the West Village.
I was formed here, and
I will end my days here,
Danes said with a self-
aware flourish.
I still have a book club
with my friends from

ear Gov. Kasich,
Why, you lucky
man.
Youve been under pres-
sure to show up at the
Republican National Con-
vention in Cleveland,
plaster on a smile and
endorse Donald Trump.
It must have been quite a
dilemma. And then the real-
ity TV star resolved it all with
a few ill-chosen words.
No way can you endorse
him now, right?
Of course, I refer to
Trumps declaration that
a federal judge should be
disqualified from a lawsuit
involving the candidate.
Why? Because, by Trumps
definition, the judge is
Mexican.
And then, when pressed
on the comment, Trump said
he would油say the same thing
about a Muslim judge, too.
So the guy set to claim the
Republican nomination for
president:
n油 Implicitly acknowledges
that things he has said about
Mexicans and Muslims are
inflammatory.
n油Thinks its OK to disqual-
ify people based on where
their parents were born.
Because, as you know, the
judge son of parents who
emigrated from Mexico油
was born in Indiana. In other
words, hes American 油but
