Elvira Woodruff was born in 1951 in New Jersey and lived in Pennsylvania for 20 years. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, baking, and researching for her stories. In elementary school, she loved writing and discovered her passion for becoming an author. Before publishing her books, she had jobs as an ice cream truck driver, janitor, receptionist, store owner, and librarian storyteller. Her novel Dear Austin is set during the Underground Railroad and is predicted to be about an 11-year-old boy named Levi trying to save someone from slave catchers in 1853. It may relate to her other book George Washington's Socks through its historical setting and inclusion of mystery.
