Defentect is a technology company focused on detecting chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats. Their initial solution is a system called DM3 that manages, monitors and messages various threat sensors. They currently offer gamma radiation detectors but plan to partner with other companies to expand their sensor offerings. Radiological "dirty bombs" pose a significant threat, and Defentect's low-cost technology can help detect the movement of radiological materials to prevent their misuse. They aim to sell their systems to hospitals, waste facilities, first responders and other sectors through installation partners. Financial projections show growing revenue and profits that could reach $90 million and $25 million respectively by 2011.

- 4. The Radiological Threat is expected to present as a Dirty Bomb. Dirty Bombs utilize low grade radiological materials commonly found in hospitals, universities and industry. A Dirty Bomb contaminates its target for months, if not years. Defentect mitigates the threat by detecting movement of stored radiological materials and preventing misappropriation.
