On the slopes of the Simonsberg near Stellenbosch, South Africa, Hans and Deli Hoheisen established Smart Sustainability in 1938. Hans Otto Hoheisen donated 14,500 hectares of land adjacent to Kruger National Park to the WWF for conservation in 1990, the largest privately-funded land donation in South Africa. Delheim Farm operates a community center with a day care for 22 children and 3 babies and engages in eco-tourism open 365 days a year while balancing costs, social responsibility, and conservation.
