Delta produces portable torque measurement devices for quality control. The Delta 1D, 6D, and 7D models vary in capabilities from measuring only torque to measuring both torque and angle. The 6D and 7D can store tool and process settings, measure tools and processes, perform statistical analysis, and export data via software. The 7D additionally checks residual torque values using a digital wrench. All models aim to help manufacturers ensure quality and productivity.

For quality Audit
The goal of quality control is to check how the residual torque in the
joint compares with the torque
applied during
the tightening
process

19. Models – Delta 7D
For quality Audit
In a perfect situation we would like to have the same torque value
achieved during the tightening process.
In practice this is difficult as we have several combined influences:
torque
50 Nm clamping
force 26 kN
the torque is less due to relaxation of the joint
residual torque 45 Nm
residual clamping force
23,4 kN
20. Models – Delta 7D
For quality Audit
In some cases, we measure more torque due to the static coefficient of
friction. This static friction torque does not indicate that there is a higher
clamping force, but simply that the coefficient of friction is higher in a static
condition
and decreases once
very high static friction coefficient
the parts start moving
(dynamic)!

Peak Torque Strategy :
? The operator see the bolt start moving
? it’s the breakaway point
Joint A
? But there is some delay to stop moving the arm, due to
body human being decision process
? Residual check value read on the display is different
than breakaway point
?operator dependant

Torque to Move Strategy (using DWTA)
? using the angle, Delta detect the Torque at a pre-defined
achieved angle.
? the value detected after a rotation (2° in standard joints) is
close to the real breakaway since the peak torque due to static
friction is not measured like in peak mode.
? Not operator dependant
