Denver Broncos Roundup
1. Following a less足than足average
performance against the New England Patriots a week ago in
Foxboro, the Denver Broncos got back to their regular brand of football in Oakland this past
Sunday. Despite trailing 10足6
towards the end of the first half, the mojo was felt on the sideline
of the visiting Broncos who were given a speech by John Elway prior to the game. A dialogue
of having a championship attitude was presented to the team, something that needs to be
delivered every so often to keep goals clear. While much of what was said is unknown, it must
have worked pretty well.
The Raiders were driving late in the second half, with the lead, when rookie cornerback,
Bradley Roby intercepted QB Derek Carr with just under 4 minutes left. Three snaps later,
Peyton Manning dumped the ball to back足up,
C.J. Anderson who took it 51 yards for a
touchdown and placed the team in the lead. Just two minutes later Anderson broke through
Raiders defense twice for big gains to set up Manning for a touchdown pass to Emmanuel
Sanders.
With the lead and momentum at the half the Broncos then went on to dismantle the Raiders.
over the course of 17 minutes of gameplay, Denver went on a 35足0
run and never looked
back. Manning finished with 5 touchdowns on the day as Julius Thomas finished with two
receptions, pushing his league leading total to 12 touchdowns on the year.
It is safe to say that whatever was said in that locker room meeting, the message was clear
and agreed upon by the Denver unit. Being the second half of the regular season, it is time for
them to ramp up the intensity and attention to detail, true to the championship form they are
striving for. The Broncos will continue on their road trip facing the St. Louis Rams next, in St.
Louis.
