The class took a field trip to the Kentucky Derby Museum where they saw a puppet show about a horse who lost her mother. They learned about retired race horses Sham and Winston who live at Churchill Downs. Inside the museum there were many interactive activities and one student, JT, got to participate in a simulated horse race. The class enjoyed watching an immersive movie about the Kentucky Derby in an oval theater that made them feel like they were on the racetrack.

The Puppet Show First, we saw a Puppet Show. It was about a horse who lost her Mom. It was funny! Gabriel liked the Puppets!

Sham and Winston Sham is a retired race horse and Winston is his friend. Winston is a pony. They live in the barn at Churchill Downs!

Inside the Museum there were lots of neat activities!

The Movie We watched a movie about the Kentucky Derby. The movie screen went all around the walls in an oval. It was like being in the middle of the track. It felt like we were really there. The movie was very loud.

Katalina Echavarri, Tom Neudek, and Lilly Bonnell created a Jamestown Fort diorama for their class project. They made replicas of the fort, signs, a cornfield, beach, and church. Lilly also separately made a miniature model of Jamestown without the fort. The students worked together to build the fort diorama over several days, solving the challenge of how to support the walls without glue by using toothpicks.
