1. Lock SystemDefect1. Key Design2. Door lock handle design Why is this a problem? 1. Since all keys have almost same design, its hard to find right key from a bunch for a lock.2. One cannot determine which way door lock handle should be moved to open the lock just by its orientation.
2. USB Ports position in LaptopsDefectUSB Ports position is too close.Why is this a problem? In most of the laptops the USB ports are closely positioned.
No room is left for another USB device is some large USB device is attached into port. 3. Walkers for OldDefectWalkers are not designed keeping foot mechanism in mind.Why is this a problem? When a person moves forward , position of one of the foot changes in order to support another foot.

4. Digital ThermometerDefectThe design is too smooth. Why is this a problem? When a person sticks it in his mouth, under tongue, and bite down to hold it in place, it slips out.
The pressure from the teeth isn't enough to get a grip on the very smooth.
Teeth slowly close down on each other as the thermometer slides out of mouth.5. Keyboard Design: Caps Lock KeyDefectCaps Lock KeyWhy is this a problem? People rarely use Caps Lock key but it occupies large area in keyboard which can be utilized for accommodating other more-frequently used keys.IdeaWhy not switch the positions of CTRL and Caps Lock?
6. ElevatorsDefectOccupancy / Max weight factor is not taken care in design of elevator.Why is this a problem? Sometimes while going for an elevator the door gets open but since the elevator is fully occupied a person cannot enter inside.
In ideal case the elevator should show the current weight its carrying and if its fully occupied then door should not open.7. Its hard to interpret what the specification wants to imply. Eg. 2 Ton AC some how gives an idea of size of room required but what am I suppose to do with a 25Watts Woofer system?
8. Four Burner Gas StoveDefectThe Gas burners position is too cluttered.Why is this a problem? Its hard to use all four burners concurrently.9. Airbags / SuitcasesDefectWheel design does not support lifting of on stairs.Why is this a problem? A person can easily slide the airbag on flat surface but its not possible to slide it on stairs.10. Apple iPod ShuffleDefectThe design is not usable.Why is this a problem? In Generation 4 iPods Apple removed the controls from device and added them on to Earphones.
The problem is, a person cannot use regular earphones or connect it to home theatre system which was earlier possible in Generation 2 iPods.Good design is as little design as possible. But it should not kill the usability of product.Generation 2Generation 3
