This document outlines the creator's design plan for creating a 3D medieval environment containing various assets like a castle, wall, tower, temple, garden, market, tavern and huts. Texture choices are described for each asset to convey realism and visual interest. The castle will contain Roman-inspired houses around a courtyard. The temple will feature Greek-style pillars and a central statue. The tavern and market will include interior details. Huts will be simple structures for civilians.

Design pack
1. This is my design pack for my
3D Environment, This is it at its
simplest form and will develop
each individual asset with
detail and textures.
Basic Assets List
Castle
Wall
Tower
Temple
Garden
Market
Tavern
Huts
3. I have decided to make my walls similar
to this wall with view areas a walkway
and smaller towers. This can be made in
small parts which I can repeat over and
over again
I have chosen a cobblestone texture as
this texture is easy to repeat and stretch
over large areas such as walls and was
the common material to build walls out
of.
Potential extra assets
Flags
Banners
Smaller towers
Torches
Brazier
Ballista
I have decided to maybe light up
the wall with braziers this would
add a greater aesthetic look
This is the ballista that wills it on
top of the smaller towers and were
used as a defence weapon to protect
the castle.
4. Front view: gaps in the wall to see
around the area
Top view 1: This is a top down view with braziers
placed along 1 side which can be repeated.
This is the top down view of the smaller tower
with a ballista placed on top of the tower, the
tower is the same level as the wall and is just an
expanded area, It also contains 2 braziers
5. I have chosen a very simple design for my tower
as the player will not be able to access the towers
and are used as barriers to stop the player from
moving from that area.
I will be using the same
texture as the wall so that the
textures match and look like
one whole structure.
6. My castle is inspired by flat top roman houses as
theses houses would be elegant but simple. I
shall duplicate 3 houses around a courtyard to
simulate a place of wealth.
I shall use a stone texture for this
building as this symbolizes wealth
and gives a greater look to the
overall building. I shall use 1 texture
for the whole building.
In the interior I shall add tables with
loots of plates and cups as well as a
throne to represent it being a kings
home.
7. I have decided to go for a Greek styled temple
with surrounding pillars and a triangulated roof.
There is an open interior. The temple is an
important place.
I shall use a marble texture for the
temple as this shows purity and is
clean , a temple is a place of worship
and is a key aspect of a medieval
community
Many temples had statues
of gods or something that
symbolises that god, within
the temple I shall add a
centre piece of a sword and
shield.
8. The tavern is very lively and popular so have
decided to make an interior for this with tables a
bar and barrels. The outside is made of stone
with a wood roof.
I am using the stone texture again as
this shows realism that the same
material was used when building the
city.
This is what I intend the
interior of my tavern to look
like with lots of tables and a
very lively vibe.
9. I intend to make a market
area with lots of market
stalls like this with a few
tables scattered around. I
will make blank stalls as
this means I can copy and
paste the stalls over and
over to give a feel of a very
cramped area.
I intend to use straw as the texture for the roof to
give it a poorer feel and all stalls are the same.
This gives a feel of oldness.
10. The huts in my environment will
be simple and be open to in and
out with an interior, theses
houses are more simple as they
are made for poorer civilians,
made out of wood.
I will be using an old wood
texture for my building with the
roof being tiled like the tavern.
The interior shall be textured in a
darker wood texture .
The interior is basic and simple
with not much furniture.
