This document summarizes the author's perspective as a member of the Videotex Industry Association's Information Provider/Service Operator Committee in the 1980s. As a representative of independent design and implementation boutiques, the author had a unique "worm's eye view" of servicing the larger players in the marketplace. This provided practical insights into the dynamics of the emerging consumer-oriented interactive digital services sector, known then as "Videotex", which represented an early vision of the graphical, consumer-oriented World Wide Web before it was called that.
