2. MICHAEL COFFEY for DESIGNLUSH Michael Coffey is a sculptor whose medium is furniture. 3. STEW DESIGN WORKSHOP for DESIGNLUSH Stew¡¯s work is driven by the organic ideal: ¡°The rectilinear, orthogonal aesthetic that came to dominate the 20th century is a reflection of a machine-driven industrial age. Modern informational technology and the rapid spread of digital fabrication helped to free up design and designer¡¯s creative processes. Locating ourselves within this movement and buoyed by technology, we celebrate a return to the beauty and harmony of natural forms, flows and systems. We strive to create a body of work that will inspire¡committed to enhancing people¡¯s lives and improving the world we live in.¡± Stew uses FSC-certified wood as well as alternative materials, such as wood from pressed sunflower seed husks. Their production methods are low-waste, with sawdust given to a local dairy farm to be used as bedding for cows. Rings of Plywood and Poplar. From left: ¡°Strata¡± and ¡°Petal¡± chairs

6. WILLIAM EARLE for DESIGNLUSH William Earle¡¯s flawless work is geometric perfection. ¡°The standard view might be that American design is intuitive, pragmatic and vernacular, while European design is theoretical and conceptual. But then along comes a minimalist like William Earle.¡± Ellen Lupton, Curator, Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum Clockwise from top: Settle Sofa in dyed Italian mahogany with acrylic base, HAL side tables, Wooden Pillow
