Women with young children experiencing homelessness often have difficulty developing life skills in transitional homes due to funder requirements. A project created a local currency system within one transitional home where women could earn and spend money to practice skills like budgeting, helping them gain employment and permanent housing to end the cycle of homelessness. Through participatory design with staff and researchers, an appropriate money management system and artifacts were developed for consistent delivery by staff.
