Authorization Manager is a framework that provides application access validation, storage, and a user interface to manage access control. It offers a high-end authorization solution for .NET and COM applications that is available on Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, and Windows 2000. Custom authorization solutions have limitations in that they offer fewer features, integrate poorly with the system, are very expensive to design and maintain, and are less secure compared to Authorization Manager.
