This study examined the prevalence of dissociative symptoms among inpatients with affective disorders, psychotic disorders, and substance use disorders at a South African hospital. It investigated whether higher levels of dissociative symptoms were associated with greater subjective psychological suffering in these patient groups and whether the prevalence or association differed between the diagnostic subgroups.
