The turtle agreed to a race with the fast rabbit despite thinking he was too slow. While the rabbit ran fast initially and stopped to take a nap, assuming he had plenty of time, the turtle steadily walked the entire way and ended up winning the race by continuing on while the rabbit slept. The rabbit was disappointed that his laziness caused him to lose the race to the turtle.
