BODMAS is an acronym that establishes the order of operations in mathematics, with Brackets first, then Orders (powers and roots), Division, Multiplication, Addition, and finally Subtraction. The rules state that a plus sign or minus sign inside brackets is treated as part of the term, so a + (+b) means add b, and a - (-b) means add b, while a + (-b) means subtract b.
