Discussion-based learning challenges students to take responsibility for their own education through questioning and answering methods. The teacher's role is to facilitate discussion by clearly defining expectations, preparing themselves, and arranging seating to allow all students to easily participate. Effective discussion involves dividing students into groups, explaining the purpose and process, providing information and questions, guiding responses, and summarizing to help students draw conclusions.
