Welcome to the new
Dixons Carphone
office in Acton
In November, we opened our new Acton office to the world. The new
location accommodates over 2,300 employees following Dixons
Carphone’s £3.8 billion merger in 2014.
Why did we do this? We wanted to build a home that brings all of our
colleagues together as one team – and encourages them to work in a
smarter way.
The result is a modern, airy and lively open-plan building with great
facilities, lots of break-out areas and super-intelligent corporate WiFi.
The location features a spacious private garden and terrace, which
colleagues can use to work, socialise or relax in. Come summer, the
garden is expected to be an especially popular space for break outs and
team meetings.
Acton has everything we need; a free gym, a large restaurant with a wide
range of mouthwatering delights, and a ready supply of caffeine-based
treats catered for by our very own on-site Starbucks.
Our core principle at Dixons Carphone is to put the customer at the heart of
everything we do. So where better to showcase that ethos than at the heart of our
new home? Acton has its own Currys PC World and Carphone Warehouse stores,
where colleagues can get kitted out with the latest tech and make full use of their
employee discount.
Our new home is about more than work. Acton is a multi-purpose
environment, facilitating events like regular drinks and nibbles evenings
that give our colleagues a chance to socialise and kick-back in their
building.
We celebrated Acton’s opening by inviting over 1,000 staff to a launch party hosted
by Dixons Carphone CEO Sebastian James. As well as presentations by Chairman
Charles Dunstone and Deputy Chief Executive Andrew Harrison, there were a few
not-so-traditional office activities for our people to enjoy.
We’ve created a building that’s fit for a FTSE100 company – but ultimately,
it’s our people who make us great. They made sure to mark their new
territory in style, decorating one of our walls with graffiti.
Moving to a smarter way of working allows our colleagues to work remotely,
whether they’re inside the building or out. It’s all about improving work-life
balance, and providing our people with an environment where they can make
amazing things happen.
