Guyana is an emerging economy with enormous untapped potential. The
countrys geographic position at the gateway to the Caribbean and South
America, combined with its natural resources, access to key export markets,
English-speaking population and affordable, hard working and where

business in Guyana. Supported by stable macroeconomic policies, attractive
investment incentives, and a regulatory environment and corporate tax

Guyana is a major trading partner of the USA from which most of its imports are
sourced.
TRANSFORMATIONAL DEVELOPMENTS
 Bridge linking Guyana and Brazil completed.
 Construction of Major Highway linking Georgetown, Guyanas capital with Brazil to begin
next year.
 Privatization, diversification of the sugar industry .
 Expansion of the distillery industry which produces the internationally acclaimed award
winning Demerara rums.
 Privatization/diversification of the sugar industry.
 A recalibrated national university-The University of Guyana-that has excelled at providing
world class education in several fields including environmental science, biodiversity and
