Singapore has achieved rapid development through extensive planning and strict regulations. The government recognizes the importance of arts and culture for livability and established a cultural policy in 1985. This included initiatives like developing communities for creative professionals and transforming areas into neo-urban environments through gentrification. The cultural policy also focused on exhibiting history and heritage through museums and enhancing natural spaces for recreation. However, some feel the tight restrictions and forced conformity limit creativity.

Post independence, with Intensive Planning the government
single-mindedly brought about rapid progress by focusing on
advancement of education, housing, transport, infrastructure and

There's a certain white-shirted constraint, an absolute humorlessness in the way operates;

5. 1. Formation of Creative Communities
Realizing that creativity is an important factor in the
development of culture, the government identified the creative
class and shaped ways to promote them, thereby aiming to
enhance the creative environment.
It is a residential development, is an initiative of the to develop a
community environment primarily for creative people.
With tight restrictions and very less freedom to release their creative spirits
in public exhibits and other facilities, the community results in almost a
forced environment.

6. 2. Creating Neo-urban environments
Due to the increasing influence of globalization and contemporary urban aspects, there is a
trend of development of spaces to promote the modern lifestyle of cosmopolitan people. This
has led to the gentrification of many areas like Clarke Quay and Dempsey Hill,
