What are drugs ? Drugs are chemicals that alter or change the way a person’s body works. Drugs may be illegal (example; alcohol, caffeine, tobacco) or legal (example; cannabis, cocaine, heroin)

1. Cannabis Slang Names: Hash, Grass,Weed What is Cannabis? Cannabis is generally made from the dried leaves and flowering parts of the female plant and looks like tightly packed dried herbs. Risks  Addiction  Heart disease  Cancers
2. Cocaine Slang Names: Coke, Charlie, Snow What is Cocaine? Cocaine is a strong but short acting stimulant drug which comes in a white powder. Risks  Permanent damage to inside the nose  Damage to the heart and lungs  Death in extreme cases
3. Heroin Slang Names: Gear, Smack, H What is Heroin? Heroin is an opiate with strong sedative and painkilling effects. It comes in powder form which varies in colour from brown to white. Risks  Addiction  Blood Clots  Stroke
Why do people use drugs? People take drugs because they want to change something about their lives.
