No guarantee that courses will transfer toward your major. You can get too many hours and lose your federal aid. 6 drop rule applies (you cannot drop more than 6 classes in undergraduate career)

Online courses require enrolling in SWAS period so we can monitor progress. Juniors are not encouraged to take online courses due to high failure/drop rate. 6
Scheduling - Courses at NCTC are Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. You get a 2 period block in your schedule. You may be off* on Fridays to study. English 1301 pairs with US History AP* or History 1301 Literature pairs with AP Gov/Eco* or Dual Credit Gov/Eco You cannot sign up for one Dual Credit course and take off 2 periods on the days you do not have class. *blocked AP classes are not off every Friday. 7
APPLICATION PROCESS
HOW TO APPLY for NCTC Fill out ApplyTexas (Feb. 23rd during tutorial time, 2:40) with NCTC staff. We will send your transcript. You must meet TSI (reading, writing, and/or math depending on course you want to enroll in) through STAAR English II, SAT, or ACT or take TSI at NCTC. You will complete college 101 (at NCTC) when you visit on March 23rd. 9 Link to NCTC Dual Credit
TSI Exemptions Reading Writing Math SAT 480 evidence -based reading and writing 480 evidence -based reading and writing 530 math ACT 23 composite 19 English 23 composite 19 Writing 23 composite 19 math STAAR English II EOC 2000 Reading or 4000Composite Valid for 11th grade only 2000 Writing or 4000Composite Valid for 11th grade only 10 *Note: These are known to change from year to year.
What if I dont have an exemption? 11 You will schedule a time to take the TSI at the college. Your contact there is Mrs. Charise Bewley. Cost is $10 per section/$25 for all 3 Visit NCTCs testing site to complete the pre- assessment activity before you test. You will take the TSI on the computer and you can retake it if you do not pass. You can choose which sections you want to take depending on the courses you are taking.
12 Meningitis Vaccine - required only for classes taken at college campus. NCTC will need a copy of your shot record (we will send), and you may need a meningitis vaccination. Meningitis vaccinations must be administered within the five-year period immediately preceding, and at least 10 days prior to the first semester enrolled or re-enrolled at NCTC. Give us a copy of the meningitis vaccine and also take a copy to NCTC.
13 HOW TO APPLY TO SOUTH PLAINS COLLEGE Mrs. Kidd is a great resource. Send in your ApplyTexas Application online. Have us send your transcript. Send a transcript from NCTC if you have taken courses there. Send in proof of TSI for math. Pick up permission to enroll and return it signed to GHS Counselors. Pay online. Link to SPC Dual Credit
SCHOLARSHIPS for NCTC

How TO Register for NCTC Counselors fill out your registration form. You will pick up this form in August. You must have a 3.0 GPA (academic dual credit) or 2.0 GPA (technical dual credit) and be in good standing regarding attendance in order to register. You are not guaranteed a seat in your class until you register! Online classes fill up quickly, and we cannot predict who from the community will register for classes at NCTC. 17
