• #4: Kitchen Drama is a cooking game that aims to bring traditional local food heritage back to the reminiscent of the youth. Many youths, today, do not know how to make food of their own culture, let alone the other three culture in Singapore. Just as food can win back a man’s heart, we believe that food will also bring back past memories of a person’s culture. Hence, our game would want to take users back into the past and learn to make dishes that are significant in the local food scene.
• #5: Our target audience would be girls because most of them have an innate interest in cooking. Most girls would start their cooking “career” as young as three years old while playing ma-sak ma-sak. However, we would be specifically targeting girls of ages 10 to 18 years old, which we would be looking at them in two separate categories. The first, being 10 to 13 years old. These girls generally are unable to cook as their parents forbid them since holding knives might be dangerous. Yet, they all yearn to be like their mom. Second group of girls are in their 14 to 18 years of age, these girls of today’s generation would largely know simple dishes like frying eggs and making maggi noodle. They generally have the desire to cook for their boyfriends and family due to societal norms that woman should be a “housewife”.
• #6: To sum it all, both groups of girls have an innate interest in cooking and a desire to cook but not making any mess whilst growing up.
• #7: The targeted activity would aim to provide an avenue to develop the cooking interests of these girls rather than depending on other channels such as the elders to get the recipes. It would also aim to create a hassle-free and safe environment for learning and cooking as beginners have a fear of messing up the kitchen. We decided upon cooking in the midst of learning culture because we have found that games can ignite motivation to allow users to explore on their own. • #8: The physical environment in which the game will be played is indoors, in the comfort of the home and away from the kitchen The game can be played with family or it can also be among a group of friends, after school or at a party. The cultural context for today is that food is usually instant, like instant noodles, or fast food, take outs, or even pre-packed, ready to eat food.

• #12: The long term goal in the game is to accumulate points which can be used to buy virtual goods and also leveling of chefs’ ranking. Eg. From Commis (com mee) to Sous Chef (Sue chef) and finally to Chef de Cuisine (Chef the kwee-zin)
• #13: Users can enter different kitchens while they learn food of different races. Chinese, Malay, Indian and European kitchens
• #14: The technology that we will be using is invented by 3DV systems, known as the Z Cam. It is a motion sensor detector that can detect hands and body movements via the camera shown above. Instead of the usual detection of color per pixel, Z cam would detect distance per pixel. (Show Video) Explain Noise while showing. • #15: Our strengths as we all know, right from the start, we would like to see girls learning about food in a hassle free and safe environment. So, by playing a virtual game that aims to be as close to reality as possible without any use of controllers, the girls would reach our aim of having fun safely and without making any mess. Then our game includes close interpretations of different kitchens portrayed in the past for different inter-racial food being cooked so as to allow users to familiarize themselves with the past environments subconsciously. One very important strength that we have found out is the potential behavioral change we will see in our users. Studies have shown that virtual games are often used in pilot and military training to imitate reality. Hence, our game has the potential to entice users to cook a real dish as familiarized from the game.
• #16: Criticisms we thought of might be why we only target girls, what about the boys and also since it’s virtual, it’s not as realistic in terms of the taste, smell and the time take to prepare a dish. You can argue that ‘nothing beats the experiencing it for real’, but the target group we set are girls who are quite young and more importantly, don’t want to make a mess of the kitchen.
