E-jeepneys were developed by Green Renewable Independent Power Producers, Inc. in partnership with Solar Electric Company to provide electric public transportation in Makati. The e-jeepneys are assembled in the Philippines and are equipped with electric motors powered by batteries that are charged for six hours and can run for 100km. During their visit to the e-jeepney station at the Makati Fire Station, the group learned about the history and operation of the e-jeepneys from an officer, including how the batteries are charged and provide fuel. The e-jeepneys circulate around Makati's central business district and provide an emission-free and quiet alternative form of transportation.
