2. Installation of Infratech, Miller machine CD1,
Miller machine CD2 and Mixer.
1) Installation of Infratech 1241 (NIRS (Near Infrared
Reflectance Spectrophotometer))
NIRS is the name given for Near Infrared Reflectance Spectrophotometer, the instrument used
for the quantification of chemical compounds by the principle of reflection of electromagnetic
radiation after it shines in to the sample from the source halogen lamp. Since then, the
electromagnetic light which is reflected will be detected after its signal changed in to electric
signal as represented in Figure 1.

The installed instrument is ideal for breeder for screening of agricultural commodities according
to their specific intended interest where the sample is not distractible because of its capabilities
of analysis as it is grain. The instrument is also very important for its fast speed of analysis
without sample preparation; decreases labor cost and also minimize sample running cost too.
Since the instrument is dependent on the wet chemistry, purchasing the equation is required
because it costs time and needs trained personnel for developing the equation. Indeed, the project

3. has purchased for 12 equations including bread wheat and durum wheat, even though most of the
equation is for crude ash and moisture.
According to Dr. Mohammed, the installer of the equipment they have another equation which is
critical for durum and bread wheat quality analysis including wet gluten, fat, ash, moisture &
protein.
Last but not least the instrument having multipurpose for determination of physicochemical
composition of agricultural commodities was easy to use and operate installed successfully as
shown in the figure 2.

2) Installation of Milling Machine CD1 and Milling Machine CD2
The CD2 mill which is important for the milling test of the durum wheat was installed
successfully as shown Figure 3. The instrument has two main parts;
a) A breaking part equipped with corrugated rolls which goal is to separate bran from
the kernel. The breaking operation gives two types of products, bran and rough
semolina.
b) A reduction part also equipped with three corrugated rolls, their role is to reduce the
rough semolina produced previously into coarse semolina, fine semolina and flour.
The CD1 mill which is important for the milling test of bread wheat was installed successfully as
shown Figure 3. This instrument has also two main parts;
4. a) A breaking part which gives three types of products flour, semolina and coarse bran.
b) A Reduction part which reduces the perversely produced semolina into flour and fine
barn.
The instrument requires three phase electrical system for the operation where ours electrical
installation in the laboratory is two phase. Therefore temporary testing of the instrument was
undertaken by using direct breaker electric supply system. As a result it is better to have three
phase electrical system for future operations of the instrument.

3) Installation of MR2L/MR10L mixer
The multipurpose mixer was also installed successfully as shown figure 4. Its
application are ; temper wheat before milling, mix flour after milling and
preparation of wheat and flour blend.
