Early human remains were found in Callao Cave in the Philippines dating back 67,000 years. The remains belong to a new species of human called Homo luzonensis that is a small-bodied hominin with a mix of archaic and modern traits. Further research is needed to learn more about this ancient human species that inhabited southeast Asia over 60,000 years ago.
