The document discusses the current status of the Central Asian Research and Education Network (CAREN). CAREN is an EC-funded project that aims to establish a high-capacity research and education network connecting Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. It will provide over 1 million users at 200+ universities and research institutes with 34-155 Mbps connections. CAREN links to GANT, providing Central Asian access to global research collaborations. Diagrams show the network architecture and operations centers in Frankfurt and Hong Kong.

20. Cooperation between CAREN and University of
Graz (Rule of Law Education)
ELEVATE E-Learning Variations for Transition Economies. Its goal is
to use e-learning tools to assist in solving transitional justice issues in
Central Asia , by making the connections between the rule of law and
sustainable development.
CAREN management team and CA NRENs expressed interest to
implement rule of Law education as non-classical application for
CAREN at CAREN ExCo meeting in Dushanbe, March 11-12,2011.
CAREN could provide network infrastructure with high-speed channels
and technical support for implementation of Programme Elevate.
