The European economy showed weak growth of 0.3% in the third quarter, recovering from its worst recession since WWII but remaining fragile as the UK economy continued to contract by 0.4% and unemployment in the Eurozone remained high. Exports from Germany and France helped compensate for reluctant consumer spending, but growth was below expectations in most European countries.
