 GURUKUL SYSTEM
 COMPARISON WITH THE PAST
ANCIENT TYPE OF EDUCATION
Education as a system in India, can be traced way back from
the mythological stories.
There were Hrishi munims who used to sit under the tree and
teach all the vedas to their students known as the Shishyas.
At the end of their learning vedas i.e their curriculum, the
shishyas would pay offerings to these hrishis as their guru
dakshinas which is nothing but their fees.
There was simple give and take of knowledge(vedic
knowledge).
The Hrishis were generally reguarded as God.

GURUKUL SYSTEM
This system prevailed for about 500 years during the
medieval and the post-medieval period.
The student over here, would used to live in the house or
dwelling of their teacher till he finish his course or the
curriculum.
The teacher would teach the student and in return he
would get all sort of domestic work done by the student
which the teacher intended to do.
Again, their was a healthy relationship of student-teacher.
