TOPIC:EFFECTIVE ADJUSTMENT TO A
NEW WORK PLACE
 AN OVERVIEW..
Listen, observe and keep
an open mind
Ask questions, seek
clarification
Best behaviour, attitude
at workplace
Become involved
 Communicate well in
office
Keep your sense of
humour
Try to listen carefully to what people are
saying and observe their body language
closely. In other words, concentrate on both
verbal and non-verbal communication
techniques.
You may discover the meaning intended by
observation and interpretation rather than
assuming from past experience in your own
workplace
 Ask yourself if the behaviour you are seeing
makes sense within the office enviornment . if
it seems strange or wrong to you. Remember
that you may have misunderstood something
because you didn't have enough information.
Ask questions from those you know who you
think can help
Establish relationships with your
colleagues. Your internal clients, those
to whom you are a client and people
who share your targets are all
important. It would be a good idea to
learn about how they work. Make sure
you join them during their lunch and
coffee breaks. It's a great way to meet
and interact with your colleagues
Remember, the more you put into the
experience, the more you will learn
from it. Try to make an
effort to meet people, form friendships,
and get involved in activities like office
meeting , discussions etc.
Get familiar with the key ingredients of
what constitutes the unwritten office
conduct. Thefirst of these is the attitude
to time.
Understand how much
value each person in the office gives to
planning. This will determine the
structure of your feedback and
presentations to your team.
It is very likely that you will
make mistakes as you work
in a new place. If you laugh
at some of these mistakes
it will help you to learn,
adapt and enjoy the
experience.
