Enterprise Manager 11g Launch - Event Sustainability

Did you know that in 2009 Oracle event marketing staff and vendors helped to save over
$11,000 and avoided 20,000 miles of travel by meeting virtually, reducing air travel, carpooling
and choosing public transit to participate in planning activities? And decisions to print less and
on recycled paper saved at least 460 trees.

On Earth Day wed like to remind you that Oracles approach to events, like Enterprise
Manager, is:
End-to-end, promoting actions that reduce the materials we use at our events and divert as
much of our waste stream from landfill as possible.
Integrated, including our vendors, staff and attendees in indentifying real and practical
actions to save energy, conserve water and reduce waste.
Resource efficient, paying attention to the triple bottom line of people, planet and profit so
that we can continue to help our customers create new levels of value.

In partnership with the Guggenheim Museum and Restaurant Associates, Oracle Event
Marketing is honoring Earth Day today by:
Eliminating bottled water. Americans buy half a billion bottles of water every week. Thats
enough to circle the globe more than five times!
Buying local and sustainable. The typical meal travels over 1500 miles from farm to plate.
Restaurant Associates buys from farms in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and
Connecticut. All seafood meets approval of the Monterey Bay Aquariums Seafood Watch
    Program.
Reusing materials. Luncheon platters are made from recycled glass. Linens, china and
glassware are rented locally and are a better environmental choice than disposables.
Reducing and recycling. The Guggenheim recycles 75% of waste. In addition Restaurant
Associates operates a program called Trim Trax, which actively reduces food waste from
    catered events.
Aiming for a paperless launch. InVision and the Oracle event team are using electronic
production methods that integrate iPads. Where printing is necessary double-sided copies
    are used.
Being accountable for our carbon footprint. Oracle is offsetting 100% of emissions for
transportation, venue use, accommodation, food and beverage and waste hauling for this
event. This amounts to 40 metric tons of emissions. Funds from the offset are being used to
support farm power, landfill gas capture and wind energy.
