elements that offer personal challenges.
5. Testimonials
As the Senior Technical and Science Consultant for [the resort], I was to determine if it
was possible to increase throughput, decrease maintenance, and improve safety on
their current zip line.
Part of the evaluation included extensive testing of the existing technology to develop
a base line and then try various other potential solutions. zipSTOP in combination with
Skyline¡¯s Jet Trolley performed the best. Speed increased at the end of the Zipline by
approximately 20% but by using the zipSTOP, deceleration forces were determined to
be around 0.75 g¡¯s. regardless of rider mass or velocity variation due to other factors.
This is far lower than current technologies ¨C gentler stop for the rider with predictable
stopping distances. The addition of springs was used in the event a rider exceeds the
limitation of 136kg and a resultant final velocity exceeding zipSTOP¡¯s capabilities as
well as a means to prevent injury should the zipSTOP fail.
With over 10,000 riders during the months of July and August there have been no
failures of the zipSTOP nor any indication of wear. This applies to the Skyline Jet
Trolley as well. Throughput was increased by over 300%, and maintenance other than
replacement of components like rope (which is expected and predicted) to activate the
zipSTOP. The system has had no issues and performs extremely well. zipSTOP manual
covers a wide range of topics surrounding the zipSTOP it installation, maintenance
and setup. In my opinion it is one of the most comprehensive manuals covering this
type of technology I have had the pleasure to use.
I wish all amusement ride companies would put this kind of effort into developing
technology of this quality.

Dear Head Rush,
Captain Zipline Aerial Adventure Park in Salida, Colorado is very pleased with our 5
TRUBLUE Descenders. In our small canyon location, theTRUBLUEs made it possible
to increase the number of challenge bridges by eliminating the zip lines used to
descend from our aerial trekking courses.Your devices helped us enhance our guest¡¯s
experiences and really augmented our operations with several visitors calling out the
TRUBLUE experience as their favorite. Good job, great equipment!

8. Testimonials
? At Royal Gorge ZiplineTours, we have been able to add a new level of excitement to our Extreme Course using the
TRUBLUE belay device from Head RushTechnologies. Our customer experience culminates as they land on a 70'
tower. Using aTRUBLUE device allows us to increase customer throughput by decreasing the time it takes to lower
participants. We appreciate the ease of maintenance with almost no downtime. The outstanding technical support from
Head RushTechnologies has also been a plus. Customer feedback fromTrip Adviser has moved our tour from the #2 most
popular activity to #1 in the region since we started usingTRUBLUE. I highly recommend this technology as a way to
develop return customers as well. Nothing like the rush of stepping off a 70' platform!

14. Design and Installation Considerations
? You MUST include an
EmergencyArrest Device
? You must include some form
of rider orientation constraint.
? Body Parts must remain out of
reach of the impact area.
? The default condition in a
high-speed zip line requiring a
staff member to actively
engage the brake system can
be very risky.
15. Operational Mistakes
? Failure to perform inter-
rider inspections on high-
speed zip lines
? Failure to perform
periodic
equipment/hardware/
line inspections
16. Rider Experience
? Braking force is augmented because of variables other than the zip line brake.
? Friction loss
? Cable deflection
? Negative line angle (gravity)
? High customer wait times and
diminished customer experiences
can greatly reduce your returns.
17. ROI/Profitability Mistakes
? Not enough line angle
? Too short of platform for the job = rider recovery = slow throughput

¡°The body prepares for the typical
responses to fear, to run, fight or
hide. However, the response is not
one of flight, fight or freeze, it
would seem that at some point an
extreme sport participant
recognises fear but is able to move
through fear and gain a
transformational experience. It is
not even the presumed desire for
the adrenalin rush but more the
ability to keep the effects of
adrenalin from destroying a
moment of autonomy in which the
individual is able to experience a
new sense of self which transcends
fear.¡± -
