The Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering at Purdue University represents the achievements and sacrifices of Purdue alumni in the space program. It honors the 22 astronauts who graduated from Purdue, including Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, and Gene Cernan, the last man to walk on the moon. The Hall also memorializes Virgil "Gus" Grissom and Roger Chaffee, who were killed in the Apollo 1 accident, and promotes equal education regardless of gender or ethnicity.
