1. This document outlines the schedule and assignments for Unit 5 of an English 208 class. 2. The schedule lists assignments that are due each Wednesday and Sunday throughout the unit, from April 15th to May 6th. 3. The assignments include reading articles and lectures, writing scripts, peer reviewing scripts, recording audio essays, and revising based on feedback.

UNIT 5 SCHEDULE ¨C ENGL 208 *Remember that you need to write in your Penzu notebook 5 times a week! DUE BY *All assignments will be due before 11:59 p.m. on the day they are listed. In parentheses I list where you can find them on the UNIT 4 page. ASSIGNMENTS DUE Wednesday, April 15 1. Notebook check! Email Professor Banks (annab@uidaho.edu) a screenshot of your list of Penzu notebook entries (since we¡¯re now ? through the semester, you should have around 60). 2. Read the Unit 5 Assignment Sheet: Audio Essay (HANDOUTS). 3. Read the article ¡°Podcasting Is the new personal essay¡± (READINGS) 4. Listen to ¡°Hang a Picture in Front of the Mic¡±(LECTURES) 5. Complete the writing task on finding a story in a photo (UNIT 5 ASSIGNMENTS) Sunday, April 19 1. Watch Andrew Stanton, ¡°The Clues to a Great Story¡± (LECTURES) ¨C as you watch, write down Stanton¡¯s tips for storytelling. 2. Read Tammie M. Kennedy, ¡°Dead Babies Photo¡± 3. Complete the Reading Journal assignment for Stanton/Kennedy (UNIT 5 ASSIGNMENTS) Wednesday, April 22 1. Keeping Stanton¡¯s tips in mind, write a draft of the script of your Audio Essay (approximately 750 words). Upload your script to the
Unit 5 Script Review Forum (UNIT 5 ASSIGNMENTS). Sunday, April 26 1. Complete reviews of TWO of your peers¡¯ Audio Essay scripts on the Unit 5 Script Review Forum. 2. Do a test SoundCloud post using the script provided. NOTE: If you¡¯re uncomfortable or don¡¯t want to have your voice recorded, you can ask someone else to record it for you (UNIT 5 ASSIGNMENTS). Wednesday, April 29 1. Read Perl and Schwartz, ¡°The Craft of Revision¡± (READINGS) 2. Look at ºÝºÝߣdoc 1, ¡°Writing for the Ear¡± (LECTURES) 3. Revise your script, record yourself (or someone else) reading the essay, and post the SoundCloud link to the Unit 5 Audio Essay Forum (UNIT 5 ASSIGNMENTS). Sunday, May 3 Complete reviews of TWO of your peers¡¯ Audio Essays on the Audio Essay Forum (UNIT 5 ASSIGNMENTS) Wednesday, May 6 Rerecord your essay (or have someone else rerecord it) based on feedback from your reviewers, and post two things to the Unit 5 Final Audio Essay Draft link (UNIT 5 ASSIGNMENTS): 1. The SoundCloud link to the final draft of your Audio Essay. 2. A reflection on the experience of writing a script to be read aloud (and then reading it/directing someone else to read it).
