GRAMMAR: ModalVerbs: Example: Can
Can is a modal verb and we use it to say that someone has the ability or skill to
do something or to ask for permission. It is often used before the main verb.
For example:
I can dance.
You can sing.
It can fly.
He can go.
She can send.
We can play.
They can eat.
NEGATIVE of Can:
The negative of can is cannotmeaning we add not to can ant its contracted
form is can’t.
Forexample:
Maria cannot (can’t) play the guitar.
Ali cannot (can’t) drive a car.
I cannot (can’t) climb a tree.
She cannot (can’t) swim.
2. QUESTIONS with Can:
To make or ask a question with can, we bring the can at the beginning, the
pronoun or name comes next, then followed by the main verb.
For example:
Can I come with you?
Can you draw?
Can he wait for you?
Can she come with us?
Can it fly?
Can we switch on the television?
Can they play the game on the table?
Can Lina play music?
