The lesson plan aims to teach students techniques for summarizing academic texts. The objectives are for students to identify, use, and understand the importance of various summarization techniques. Students will read samples from "The Golden Age of Comics" and practice summarizing in groups. They will discuss techniques used and the usefulness of outlining. Through brainstorming and analysis, students will define summarization, when it is appropriate, and why it is important for academic texts. To conclude, students will independently summarize a sample text and complete a formative assessment on summarization techniques and purposes.
