Secure End-to-End Encryption + Pull Printing Security and cloud are closely tied to mobility solutions
Secure Pull Printing ePRINTit PPL is a transactional pull printing model. Once a job is sent to a print provider by one of the ePRINTit PPLs printing client applications the user receives a job release code. This code is valid for a limited time period and is the only requirement to print the job associated to that provider. No printed pages are left unattended at printer. Printing only occurs with user interaction, via the ePRINTit PPL pull print application on the HP OXP printer control panel. You receive one code for all documents sent and you choose at the printer which ones you want, how many copies, color, 1 or 2 sides. No logins or passwords are required. Release code only gives access to the content belonging to a single request, so there is no need to access or browse through a complete file set, limiting the reach of any given print session. Secure communication All mobile and desktop printing clients use SSL to submit print jobs to the PPL cloud service, based on certificates issued by Godaddy.
Secure Cloud Backend Data retention policies Print job expiration and file purging are based on configurable policies per provider. Release codes are properly expired (per time and/or usage occurrences) and user files stay on the cloud storage only for a limited amount of time, also configurable. Cryptography Jobs are sent to ePRINTit PPL cloud, original files on the cloud side are encrypted and stored into a secured locker provider-specific repository. PPL encryption uses AES 256 bit SHA-2 algorithm, with a rotating cryptographic key policy in which specific keys are for each provider repository, and are periodically changed. ePRINTit PPL backend servers and services are built in Microsoft Azure Cloud Each provider is represented by internal storage as a job space where files are encrypted using the same keys. Different providers use different encryption keys, minimizing the reach of any potential attack. Metadata about the content (including file names and size, and the release code) are stored in a Job History database. This metadata is associated to the originating user email. Identification of the user is done through a unique, random, per-device token. All user metadata is encrypted in such history database.
