- 2. Although we are witnessing more and more women in Europe participating in sport activities, a lot remains to be done in the sphere of gender equality. Many women are today still unable to find the right environment in which to develop their full potential. In some countries, women lag seriously behind men in access to sport. In Romania the sport is very apreciated by men and women also.
- 3. Romanian women's national team油is supervised by the油Romanian Handball Federation油and that represents油Romania油in the international matches. As of 2014 it was the only team in the world that had qualified for all World Championships 油 Romania was for many decades the most successful nation in handball with 4 gold medal wins at the World Championships, they served as a model for the sport. However, Romania failed to win a medal since 1990
- 4. Tennis is one of the sports in which both genders have been noted. In Romania, there are some glorious tennis players, women and men alike. Romanian tennis players of mention: Ion Tiriac, Ilie Nastase, Simona Halep, Monica Niculescu, Horia Tecau.
- 5. In Romania, the first basketball demonstration was held in 1920. By 1923, basketball was practiced especially in high schools in the capital, inter-school competitions organized themselves sporadically. One of the famous high schools at the time was "Michael the Brave", winner of the first competition between high schools in the country . Moreover, the high school "Michael the Brave" was the first institution to benefit from a regular basketball field. Since 1928 constitute different teams, exclusively male, Student Sports clubs, Juventus or T.C.R. Nowadays Romania has basket- ball teams for men and women.
- 6. For a long while, Romania represented an important name in gymnastics. Boys and girls brang numerous gold medals in Romania. The Romanian sportive, Nadia Comaneci, got the first 10 in the gymnastics hystory in 1976. Other Romanian gymnasts are: Catalina Ponor, Marius Berbecar, Sandra Izbasa, Larisa Iordache, Marian Dragulescu.
- 7. Volley is a very important international sport in the world. Because we all are people, and we must have equal chanses in every sport we want to perform. Volleyball women atletes are determined and they have abition and talent. They are as good as men, in some cases, they are better, because they work harder to impress the judge public. Two of Romanian volleyball players are: Alexandra Muresan and Bogdan Olteanu.
- 8. Fencing is a sport of elegance for boys and girls. It has strong characters modelator role. From Romania the team of girls: Ana Maria Popescu, Simona Gherman, Simona Pop, Loredana Dinu get in this year the gold medal at 12 august at Olympics Games. Also Tiberiu Dolniceanu get the silver medal in 2012. Both competitions were managed in Rio.
- 9. The Romanian Athletics Federation was founded in1912. The first Romanian National Championships are held in 1914, 16 samples, only for men. Begining with 1922 has been organized the first contests with women participation. Over the years, Romania has achieved in this sport, a total of 34 Olympic medals: 11 gold, 14 silver, 9 bronze. Romanian women athlethists: Gabriela Szabo, Valeria Bufanu; Bianca Rzor.
- 10. Also swimming is an international sport. At this sport boys and girls participate in equal measure, girls being accepted since 1912 at this competitions. Camelia Alina Potec obtained the gold medal in 2004 at Athens and Rzvan Ionu Florea obtained the broze medal at Sydney in 2000. Both of them are from Romania.
- 11. The油Romania women's national football team油represents油Romania油 was founded on 8th of Amy 1990. Their most recent competition is油qualification for the油2015 FIFA Women's World Cup. Despite not gaining as much success as the油men's, the women's team has been improving greatly, and almost qualified for油UEFA Womens Euro油and油FIFA Women's World Cup. The rise of women's team is the chance for Romania to become the first油Balkan油nation to play on an international competitions, and become the first nation to have both men and women's teams participating in both tournaments Romania is one of only four national teams from Europe, the other three being油Yugoslavia,油France, and油Belgium, that took part in the first油World Cup油in 1930. At the油European Championships, Romania's best performance was in油2000油when they advanced to the quarter-finals from a group with油Germany,油Portugal油and油England油before falling to eventual runners-up油Italy. They also reached the last eight in油1960 and油1972, and qualified for the油1984,油1996,油2008油and油2016油tournaments.
