The Problem In their regular activities, z/OS Operations teams suffer from a lack of standard monitoring tools that would enable them to have a simple yet appropriate view of the programs being executed. Frequently, during a day of batch processing, Operations staff need to analyze and understand the different problems, delays or conditions of execution. Beyond the useful macroscopic indicators of capacity planning, IT Operations teams need a more precise view, one focused on the unit level of the job or file. MAIN FEATURES Synthetic extraction of SMF records into a published format A user interface that provides immediate access to information Intuitive research engine offering multiple options for output (customizable, text, Csv, Html, XML) Statistics and reporting capabilities Fully adaptable to specific needs, such as regroupings according to occupation, criticality level ratings, etc. COMPOSITE RECORDS Aggregation of atomic records by type The composite JOB assembles all of the records for the Job, Step, and File/Pds for the same execution The FILE LIFE CYCLE and MEMBER LIFE CYCLE list all the actions on a name or on a file/member mask ARCHITECTURE An extractor on z/OS performs a focused and efficient synthesis of SMF data dumps In order to best limit the consumption of z/OS resources, the synthesis results are exploited after transfer, from a cross-platform server upon which the Windows clients connect.
