Evaluation 2
1. Evaluation 2
How has my research and planning helped me develop my final product?
2. What research have I done?
As the Genre of my film was to do with crime, I
decided to analyse two books with similar
storylines to mine with the same genre as mine.
These books were called Turf and Trouble written
by John Lucas. I did this because I wanted to look
more into detail with the code and conventions of
this genre. I also wanted to gather some ideas that
I could also implement into my film as well.
Adding to that, I done some production research
on cameras, sound and post production. I did this
so I could give myself a clear understanding on how
to shoot scenes to the bets of my capability with
the equipment I was given such as the DSLR
camera, tripod and Microphone. It also helped me
whilst editing.
3. How have I researched my audience?
I interviewed briefly a member of the
Waltham Cross Youth Centre and others
on the situation surrounding youth crime
in general. It was important for me to
here the feedback of what people were
saying before I considered including
certain things in my film. Some of the
questions I asked were, why do young
people get involved in youth crime? ,
what impact does youth crime have on
young people and society? , what
solutions are there to these problems?
4. Film Analysis
I analysed two short films thats had a similar genre
and representation to mine. Whilst analysing these
films, I broke it down into 3 different sections,
textual analysis which was looking at things such as
different types of shots, cutting rates, mise en
scene, purposes, sound and audio. Industry Analysis
which looking at the creators of the film and how it
came about and lastly audience analysis which was
looking at how both films marketed there films to
get it across to the audience, whether that was by
creating posters and or websites. The reason for this
was to help me with understanding the process of
making a film.
5. How well did I plan my product?
Planning was a very important part of this
film because this was going to be the base I
was going to work off in creating my film.
As I was creating a film, it was essential I
planned by creating, storyboards, scripts,
character briefs, shot list and risk
assesment.
Planning helped me mange time well and
also helped me crack on with filming
swiftly. I had not planned well, my final
product would have been a poor standard.
